Are you an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in modular construction or the wider construction industry? We are recruiting for an ambitious and growing construction business looking to appoint a commercially minded Business Development Manager to drive new business, develop client relationships and convert opportunities into successful projects. The business delivers permanent and temporary modular buildings across the education, healthcare, commercial and public sectors, providing complete turnkey solutions from initial concept and feasibility through to design, manufacture and installation. With appointments to three major public sector frameworks and an exciting pipeline of opportunities, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where you can make a real impact. The Role This is a varied, hands-on business development position combining new business generation, client relationship management and commercial project development. You'll take ownership of incoming enquiries, assess project viability, develop indicative budgets and guide clients through the early stages of their projects, working closely with estimating, design and pre-construction teams to turn initial ideas into deliverable proposals. Key responsibilities include: * Managing incoming enquiries and qualifying opportunities based on project scope, budget, funding and timescales. * Developing indicative project budgets using previous costs, benchmark rates and standard specifications. * Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, architects, local authorities and public sector organisations. * Identifying new business opportunities through networking, market research, outbound activity and existing relationships. * Monitoring planning and procurement portals to identify potential projects and opportunities for early engagement. * Guiding clients through feasibility, design development, planning and procurement processes. * Coordinating with estimating and pre-construction teams to progress qualified opportunities towards fixed-price proposals. * Attending client meetings and site visits, acting as the main commercial contact through to contract award. * Supporting public sector framework opportunities, including monitoring pipelines and preparing monthly reporting returns. * Maintaining accurate CRM records, monitoring sales pipelines and reporting on business development performance. About You You'll ideally have experience in modular construction, although a strong background in the wider construction industry, particularly within a main contractor environment, will also be considered. We're particularly interested in candidates who understand turnkey or design-and-build projects and are confident discussing construction costs, project feasibility and early-stage development with clients. You'll ideally bring: * Proven experience in construction business development, sales or a client-facing commercial role. * Knowledge of modular construction and turnkey project delivery. * The ability to assess project viability and discuss preliminary construction budgets. * An understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and early-stage project development. * Experience with construction tenders, procurement processes and public sector frameworks. * Confidence identifying new business opportunities and developing long-term client relationships. * Experience managing CRM systems, sales pipelines and commercial reporting. * Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills. You don't need to be a qualified designer, engineer or quantity surveyor, but you will need a good practical understanding of construction and the confidence to engage with clients on technical and commercial matters. The Opportunity This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing construction business with established public sector frameworks, a strong offering and scope to play a key role in its continued growth. If you have construction industry experience and enjoy developing business, building relationships and taking projects from initial enquiry through to contract award, we'd love to hear from you. Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience
