SuperCare is looking for a skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to lead the operations at our Ofsted‑rated Good residential children's home in Ilford. In this role, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the existing staff and resources, ensure the safety and well‑being of young people, and meet the service's goals.
Your duties will include:
- Stepping in for the manager when needed
- Supporting and supervising staff
- Interacting directly with young people
- Addressing child protection issues and complaints
- Collaborating with professionals for the best outcomes
- Managing resources and finances appropriately
Main Purpose of the Job
- To work alongside the Registered Manager to manage the service's existing workforce and resources, as well as to promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people in our care.
- To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
- To deputize in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the young people.
- To undertake direct work with young people as appropriate.
- To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
- To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
- To ensure that resources are allocated appropriately, and financial records are accurately maintained.
Person Specification
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy
- NVQ 3 / Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Residential Experience
- Team Building and Supervision Skills
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Understanding the needs of young people who have experienced trauma including managing challenging behaviours
- Good organizational skills
