We are looking for experienced and highly capable Deputy Managers to support the leadership and day to day operations of a Children’s Residential Home in East London. This is a key role working alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates safely, effectively and in line with regulatory and organisational standards. You will play a critical part in supporting staff, safeguarding young people and ensuring high quality, trauma informed care is consistently delivered. The role requires a hands on approach, with the ability to step into leadership when required and drive performance, culture, and outcomes within the home.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Registered Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the home
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager and take responsibility for the running of the service
- Support and supervise staff to ensure they meet the needs of young people and maintain high standards of care
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all young people in line with safeguarding procedures and regulations
- Undertake direct work with young people, building positive relationships and supporting their development
- Lead on managing child protection concerns, incidents, and complaints in line with policy and legislation
- Support the implementation of the home's Statement of Purpose and ensure objectives are achieved
- Work in partnership with external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people
- Ensure accurate record keeping, including care plans, risk assessments, and financial records
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes and continuous improvement within the service
- Support rota planning, staffing levels and resource allocation to ensure safe and effective care delivery
About You
We are looking for resilient, organised and committed individuals who can support leadership within a fast paced and demanding environment. You will have:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Experience working within a Children’s Residential Home
- Worked as a Team Leader or above in a Children’s Residential Home
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
- Experience in supervising and supporting staff teams
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
- A proactive, hands on approach to leadership and problem solving
