Our client is a leader in their field and in the early stages of Digital Transformation to support growth. As part of the transformation, they are reviewing the structure of teams, project delivery and have moved to Agile Methodology. The strategy is focused on technology and innovation. Successful delivery of the strategy will be dependent on effective Research and Development within the Technology department to deliver viable solutions to their clients, both existing and future across current and new markets. The Technology department is circa 50 people and growing. It is split between IT covering Software Development (.net, D365 BC, etc) and infrastructure and a Data team using SAS, MicroStrategy and Power BI with a transition to new Data Engineering tools (potentially Fabric) providing insights internally and for their customers. As part of the future restructure, the business will have 3 Scrum Masters across Dev, Operations and Data. This role will have a primary focus on the Data Engineering side but will be fluid across Development as well.
It is the responsibility of the Scrum Masters to ensure the effective application of Scrum principles and practices to deliver high-value products. This role facilitates collaboration, removes impediments, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and self-organisation. Acting as a bridge between the development team, Product Owner, and stakeholders, the Scrum Master promotes transparency, alignment, and adaptability to achieve business objectives. The specific focus of this role will be in the Data Analytics, Insights and Engineering team. Transitioning to Agile and Scrum with your leadership will enable them to deliver more effectively. But this is not a pure Scrum Master role, you will also be an adept project resource being able to contribute hands-on across Business Analysis, Project Management and potentially Testing where projects need all the while owning the Daily Stand ups, ceremonies and implementing Scrum processes across the teams.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile Scrum ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives
- Manage impediments raised and efficiently remove any obstacles identified within Sprint
- Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile principles
- Track progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders on Technology progress
- Promote continuous improvement and encourage feedback loops with implementation of process enhancements
- Manage Agile Business Analysts and support them to deliver in their roles
- Support the Senior Transformation team in establishing high level requirements, Project Plans and timelines so work can be effectively prioritised based on business requirements
- Act as a Proxy Product Owner as and when it is required by the business
- Oversee the Scrums backlog to ensure it is being correctly maintained, providing an efficient flow of work into the Scrum
Key Core Competencies And Skills
- Experience as a Scrum Master with a proven track record of delivery in an Agile work environment. Certification desirable not essential.
- Exposure to Product or Proxy Product owner responsibilities
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Familiarity with software delivery processes, DevOps principles, and cross functional team collaboration.
- Experience of process mapping to deliver change using UX software.
- Experience in coaching individuals in agile ways of working and working in a continuous improvement environment
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops is preferred, but experience with other similar systems such as Jira will be considered
- Proven Resilience and adaptability working in a fast-changing environment
- Experience working in R&D and data led innovation
