About your role

The purpose of this position is to act as the strategic finance partner to operational leadership, translating production and supply chain data into commercial insights that drive profitability, cost control, operational excellence, and effective capital expenditure management.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the annual budgeting process including Standard Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for the operations site.
  • Own the monthly forecasting and month-end close reporting activities for the operational cost base.
  • Provide actionable commercial insights by analyzing production metrics and supply chain data to support decision making.
  • Drive a cost control mindset across operations to optimize operating costs and improve profitability.
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team supporting operational excellence initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a team of finance business partners focused on operational finance support.
  • Manage capital expenditure planning and control, overseeing an annual capex budget of circa £30 million to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and financial discipline.
  • Ensure robust internal controls are maintained within operational finance processes to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.

All activities are reviewed for safety to self, staff, and others. All hazards are identified, and appropriate management strategies recommended. All accidents and incidents are reported on appropriate forms and issues for resolution and management articulated.

Compliance with Policy & Procedures

Operating in accordance with SBF policies and procedures. Other duties deemed necessary by SBF for the achievement of business outcomes.

What You need to be successful

Essential

  • Qualified accountant with strong commercial finance experience or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience in operational finance business partnering within manufacturing or supply chain environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at senior leadership levels.
  • Ability to drive cost control and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Experience managing capital expenditure budgets and internal controls.
  • SAP user experience.

Desirable

  • Experience in FMCG or similar fast-paced industries.
  • Knowledge of production metrics and supply chain finance.
  • Experience leading finance teams in a site leadership context.
