About us:

Every refrigerated truck and trailer moving goods across the country has relied on diesel for decades. It's polluting, expensive, and the technology has not changed. Two companies have dominated the market, selling the same legacy technology with minor updates.

Sunswap makes the electric refrigeration that's replacing it — zero emissions, lower operating costs, built from the ground up for how fleets actually operate. Endurance runs frozen goods for 24 hours on a single charge and chilled goods for up to two months. Those numbers matter on the road, and getting them right took years of obsessive engineering from a team drawn from automotive, aerospace, and motorsport.

We have gone from founding to manufacturing at scale globally in just six years. We built our own production facility in Surrey. Today we are 200 times larger by square footage than when we started. We operate on three continents — units run across the UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Chile, and Australia. And we are trusted by major brands like Tesco, Ocado, Birds Eye, and Happy Eggs every single day.

We have been named Sunday Times Best Place to Work in 2024, 2025 and 2026. We have won awards for innovation, technology, and marketing excellence, including Transport Refrigeration Manufacturer of the year in both 2024 and 2026. We have backing from leading investors including BGF, Barclays, Clean Growth Fund, Shell, and Rabobank.

We have got the customers, the traction, and the momentum. Now we are taking this British-engineered product global — scaling manufacturing, opening new markets, and building the team that will make legacy polluting technology obsolete across the world.

If you want to be part of a company that is setting new standards for the industry and scaling internationally, this is it.

Job overview

Sunswap is seeking a Training & Installs Lead to own the strategy, structure and quality of our technical training and installation programmes for service partners and distributors. This role leads both the Trainer and the installation team, and is accountable for making sure training materials, certifications and installation standards are developed, maintained and consistently delivered across the Sunswap network.

In this role, you will design the curriculum for the trainer, build and maintain the certification framework, manage the administrative backbone of the training programme, and lead the installation team's performance and standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Trainers and the installation team, setting priorities, planning schedules and reviewing performance.
  • Own the creation, maintenance and version control of all training documentation, presentations and training aids.
  • Design and maintain training on remote asset diagnosis using Sunswap’s diagnostics tool, so trainers can teach distributors and service partners to diagnose assets through our system.
  • Design and administer certification programmes, ensuring certificates are created, issued and tracked for engineers, distributors and service partners.
  • Organise and manage the training calendar — scheduling sessions, coordinating trainer availability, and aligning training delivery with business needs.
  • Maintain accurate training records, certification status and audit reports across the Sunswap network.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Aftermarket teams to ensure training content and installation standards reflect the latest product developments and field learnings.
  • Analyse feedback from training sessions, audits and field activities, and translate it into improvements to training content, certification requirements and installation processes.
  • Set and oversee installation quality standards and compliance requirements, in coordination with field audit findings.
  • Identify training and installation gaps across the network and lead corrective action plans.
  • Report on training and certification KPIs (coverage, compliance, renewal status) to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications & experience

  • Proven experience leading a training function, technical team or installation team, ideally within refrigeration, HVAC, automotive, transport refrigeration or a related technical industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and refrigeration systems, sufficient to direct training content and standards even without personally delivering it.
  • Experience designing certification programmes, competency frameworks and training documentation systems.
  • Demonstrated people management or team leadership experience.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with experience managing schedules and resourcing across a team.
  • Experience working with distributor, partner or third-party service networks would be advantageous.
  • Qualification in Engineering, Refrigeration, Electrical Systems, Automotive Technology or a related technical discipline.
  • F-GAS certification or equivalent refrigeration qualification preferred.
  • MEWP and IPAF certificate preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and training/documentation management systems, and confident using diagnostic software.
  • Occasional travel required to support field audits, planning sessions or key training events.
