Brockenhurst College has a fantastic opportunity for two Lecturer in Early Childhood and Health Studies to join their team on a full-time and part-time, permanent basis. We are an expanding department seeking motivated, forward-thinking individuals to teach on the LEVEL 2 and LEVEL 3 Health studies pathways, with an opportunity to teach early childhood from September 2024. The salary range is £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum DOE. Unqualified teachers may expect £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.
We are particularly interested in candidates with extensive sector experience, a degree in nursing, paramedic science, pharmaceutical sciences, or health and social care. Holding qualified teacher status (QTLS) or willingness to undertake teacher training is an advantage. We also welcome applicants interested in digital technology, simulated and immersive learning for health and social care, which will be part of our curriculum. Experience in teaching exam units and a track record of excellent student outcomes are desirable.
Teaching responsibilities may include units such as: working in health and social care, physiological disorders and care, meeting individual care and support needs, work experience in health and social care, health psychology, and complementary therapies.
About The Role
As the Lecturer in Early Childhood and Health Studies, you will enhance the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching and assist in organizing College Childcare facilities and premises.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum
- Acting as Course Leader when requested
- Preparing and marking student work, monitoring progress, keeping records, internal verification, and providing reports to students, parents, employers, and managers
- Collaborating with colleagues to meet student needs
- Supporting inclusive learning principles, including support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities, extension activities for higher ability students, and use of Information Learning Technology
- Contributing to curriculum design, delivery, and development, including blended learning approaches
- Participating in the development of teaching and learning resources, including electronic resources
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject areas
Ideal Candidate:
- Degree or equivalent in health-related fields such as Paramedic Science, Social Work, or Nursing
- Strong teaching or training skills
- Current knowledge of developments in the health sector
- A supportive and positive approach to teaching and learning
- Ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and assess learner needs
