Who We Are Seeking
We are looking for experienced Carpenters to join our skilled production team and contribute to the creation of some of the finest yachts in the world. This opportunity is ideally suited to a skilled and meticulous carpenter who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You'll be patient, thorough, and quality-focused, with the ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment. Whether your background is in marine carpentry, high-end residential joinery, kitchen fitting, shop fitting, or bespoke interiors, you'll bring a keen eye for detail and a passion for craftsmanship.
Please note: This contract role is within IR35 and pays £24.00 per hour.
A Day in the Life
As a Carpenter at Sunseeker, you will be responsible for the installation and final fitting of premium interior components throughout our luxury motor yachts. Working from detailed design drawings, you will fit and finish a variety of bespoke joinery elements to exact tolerances, ensuring every detail meets Sunseeker's exceptional standards. You'll work with a wide range of materials including wood, plywood, vinyl, leather, and soft furnishing materials, carrying out intricate fitting and adjustment work as required. From interpreting technical drawings to scribing components to complex shapes and resolving installation challenges, you'll play a key role in bringing the yacht's interior design to life. Working closely with your team leader and colleagues, you'll also identify and rectify defects, ensuring a flawless finish is achieved before handover.
Example Responsibilities Include
- Installing and fitting bespoke interior joinery within luxury motor yachts
- Working with a variety of materials including wood, plywood, vinyl, leather, and soft furnishing materials
- Scribing components to irregular and complex shapes
- Working with pre-finished surfaces such as lacquered finishes and Avonite
- Reading and accurately interpreting design drawings and specifications
- Completing final fit and finish work to exact tolerances
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and rectifying defects to the required standard
- Collaborating with team leaders and colleagues to resolve fitting and installation challenges
- Maintaining exceptional standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Supporting production schedules whilst ensuring quality standards are met
To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have
- Previous carpentry, joinery, fit-out, shop fitting, kitchen fitting, or marine carpentry experience
- The ability to work accurately and consistently to a high standard of quality
- Experience working with a variety of materials and finishes
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently when required
- Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to workmanship
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
- Your own toolkit, including items such as a block plane, square, screwdriver set, tape measure, level, Stanley knife, and other essential carpentry tools
- An apprenticeship in carpentry or joinery would be advantageous
- Previous marine industry experience is desirable but not essential
- Experience in shop fitting, kitchen fitting, or high‑end residential interiors would be highly beneficial
