Job Description
Children’s Nurse / Nurse Associate Job. Petersfield. GU31 / GU32
Full‑time exciting opportunity for a professional Nurse / Nurse Associate to support a boy aged 12 years old. Care is provided within the school and the family home located in Petersfield.
The boy has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and requires professional support throughout the school day and at home.
Hours of work:
- 3 weekdays – full days 8:15 am to 5:30 pm
- Every Saturday – full day (8‑12 hour shifts)
- One Saturday overnight a month
- Two waking nights per month
Responsibilities:
- Support the boy’s medical condition, including recording daily activities and food intake, checking blood‑sugar levels and ensuring his wellbeing throughout the school day.
- Provide medical support in the event of a hypoglycaemic episode.
- Offer discrete, supportive care while physically fit to participate in sports and other activities, both in school and at home.
- Support the boy during waking night shifts, providing medical care throughout the night.
- Provide care at home on Saturday afternoons and for half of the school holidays, offering a fun, age‑appropriate day.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience supporting children/young people with medical conditions.
- Relevant medical qualification and experience to provide full medical support to a child with diabetes, with a clear understanding of the condition.
- Paediatric nurse qualifications are ideal; extensive relevant professional experience as a nurse associate or medical professional is also considered.
- Nanny experience preferred but not essential.
- Clear DBS check essential.
- Right to work essential.
- Clear, relevant career history required.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
