Evodia Limited are proud to support our client with an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer, SC cleared, to work on critical defence infrastructure. If you have a strong background in developing automation components and enjoy tackling complex technical challenges, this role could be an excellent fit for you. This position is based in Corsham, Wiltshire, or Portsmouth, Hampshire, with the flexibility of hybrid working 2 to 3 days onsite per week.
You’ll have the chance to contribute to the design, development, and validation of automation components supporting the NSoIT(D) Platform, playing a vital role in ensuring the resilience and efficiency of defence infrastructure.
About The Role
You’ll be part of a dedicated technical team, creating zero‑touch automation solutions using Python3, Ansible, and Bash. The aim is to automate hardware features, services, configurations, and integrations with external APIs, often working with legacy systems resistant to automation. Your work will involve developing robust, production‑quality code following industry best practices, with an emphasis on collaborative peer reviews and version control using GIT and BitBucket.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing comprehensive design artefacts
- Supporting system testing activities
- Working closely with Service Management to resolve issues ensuring reliable and repeatable deployment processes across diverse infrastructure environments
What We’re Looking For
You should have a minimum of 12 months hands‑on experience in:
- Creating complex Python3 automation classes for production systems
- Using configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Scripting with Bash for deployment and automation tasks
- Automated deployment of server, network, and storage technology across multiple vendors
- Supporting large infrastructure environments
- Troubleshooting hardware or software failures
- Working within Agile teams
- Advanced Python3 and PowerShell scripting, including workflows and desired configuration states
Holding a valid SC security clearance and demonstrating strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Professional certifications aligned with networking, virtualisation, Linux, or software development obtained within the last five years are highly desirable.
Contract specifics
Duration: 2 years, with a Target Start Date of 01/04/2026. Inside IR35, with negotiable day rates.
