Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful outcomes for naval defence projects? If so, we have an exciting contract opportunity that could be perfect for you.

Key Details

  • Location: Bristol (Hybrid Working: 2-3 days onsite)
  • Contract: Until 30 June 2026 (with potential long‑term extension)
  • Day Rate: Up to £420 per day (inside IR35)
  • Security Clearance: SC required

Your Role

Within the Ships Domain, you will be an integral part of a specialised Mechanical Engineering team supporting the delivery of complex military capability. You’ll utilise your technical expertise to ensure successful outcomes across a range of maritime systems, including propulsion, hydraulics, fluid systems, and structural components.

Responsibilities

  • Generating and managing technical requirements
  • Collating and evaluating technical data to support documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and standards relating to safety, security, and sustainability
  • Contributing to technical risk assessments
  • Assisting in the design and modification of subsystems
  • Engaging with stakeholders to optimise system integration
  • Supporting testing, verification, and validation activities
  • Aiding in system disposals and decommissioning processes

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes
  • A STEM qualification at RQF Level 3 or a professional registration such as EngTech, RSci, or IMarEng
  • Desirable: Prior experience working with Royal Navy ships
