Evodia Limited is working with a leading Defence organisation seeking a highly skilled SC cleared Lead Safety Engineer to join their team based in Bristol, with flexible hybrid working arrangements. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned safety professional specialising in aerospace, particularly within the rotary-wing domain, to lead critical safety engineering activities on a multi-helicopter platform.
About The Role
As the Lead Safety Engineer, you will provide safety support within the Multi-Helicopter Platform Delivery Team, managing a range of safety tasks across diverse helicopter types. Your expertise will ensure the safety case strategies, policies, and processes align with UK and EU legislation, as well as MOD regulations, where applicable. You will be responsible for guiding the team, conducting audits, reviews, and assessments to uphold high safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide authoritative safety advice and guidance to the Multi-Helicopter Platform Delivery Team.
- Lead the development and maintenance of safety policies and processes to meet corporate standards.
- Manage improvement plans related to Acquisition Safety implementation.
- Conduct reviews, audits, and inspections ensuring compliance with legislation, directives, and regulations specific to defence and aviation sectors.
- Undertake safety assessments and critiques, independently or as part of a team, ensuring technical safety solutions meet project requirements.
- Contribute to the technical performance and safety risk management of high-consequence helicopter projects.
About You
If you are a Chartered Engineer with a proven background in System Safety within aerospace, especially rotary-wing aviation, you're encouraged to apply. Your extensive experience with ASEMS, safety management tools, and leading safety teams in high-risk environments will set you apart.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) member of a recognised safety or engineering institute
- Expert/Practitioner status in System Safety disciplines
- Significant experience managing safety within high-risk projects, particularly in the defence or aerospace sectors
- Proficient with ASEMS and safety management tools & processes
- Experience leading acquisition safety teams working on aerospace projects
- Relevant Level 6 or higher qualification, or equivalent experience
- SC Security Clearance
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Prior experience supporting rotary-wing platforms in a safety capacity

Start ASAP, ongoing until 30 June 2026, with scope for extension. Day rate up to £770 (inside IR35). Based in Bristol, with a flexible hybrid approach (2-3 days onsite per week).
