Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a world class team in a development role. The successful candidate will work towards Level 2 Golf Greenkeeper Apprenticeship Standard and will assist with the maintenance of the course and surrounding areas, following safe working practices at all times.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the course, practice facilities and surrounding estate to the standards defined in the course maintenance and development plan by carrying out the weekly work programmes set by the Head Greenkeeper.
- Follow safe working practices implemented by senior team members to ensure the safety of all golfers, staff and contractors.
- Implement daily work programmes as devised and instructed by the Head Greenkeeper and actively participate in daily operations meetings.
- Identify a programme of personal training and development, and support all environmental policies and recycling of materials.
- Regularly assess play and traffic areas on the course, including pedestrian and vehicle access routes, and report any areas of concern.
- Ensure personal protective equipment and uniforms are maintained to the required standard and a tidy working environment is kept on the course.
- Participate in regular Personal Performance Reviews and follow instruction on maintenance plans and routing of golf maintenance traffic set out by the Courses & Estates Manager.
- Apply irrigation to achieve appropriate soil conditions and golf course playability, handle, store and dispose of golf course waste materials in accordance with environmental or waste‑management policies, and maintain health, safety and security standards.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with greenkeeping staff, colleagues and others within the golf club environment, keep up to date with advances in working practices and technologies to maintain and develop personal performance, and communicate golf‑course related information to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- GCSE in English (grade A‑C or 9‑4) and Maths (grade A‑C or 9‑4).
- Communication skills, committed, good personal presentation.
