As the Assistant NPD Manager for our fragrance brand, you will play a crucial role in supporting the New Product Development team in bringing innovative and high-quality fragrance products to market. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including External fragrance house, Marketing, Packaging, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure the successful development and launch of new fragrance products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Ideation and Concept Generation: Collaborate with the head of NPD to plan and execute the entire new product development process from concept ideation to product launch. Daily research of blogs and competitor websites for delivery of a monthly Innovation Report (innovation in makeup, skincare, active ingredients, packaging and broader innovation). Creating a monthly Inspiration reports on Innovative launches (from own research), Social media (from Communication team).
- Feasibility and Product Development: Assist in creating and managing project timelines, ensuring that all milestones are achieved within agreed deadlines. Support the formulation and testing of new fragrance products, working closely with the fragrance house and external lab. Coordinate with the contract manufacturer to ensure that product packaging aligns with branding guidelines and complies with regulatory requirements.
- Artwork Design: Coordinate artwork brief completion, collating necessary information from all departments and suppliers. Ensure artwork is received on time from design. Check artwork is compliant with design brief before submitting for approval.
- Maintaining Accurate Records and Documentation Related to Product Development Activities: Create master product documents (1 document per product with sku, barcode, supplier, supplier code, INCI, PAO, shade description, marketing text, perfumer tips, vegan…). Keeping the master product documents up to date as they will be the reference documents for all departments. Responsible for the clearly organised physical product archive (Colour approval, PPS, gold samples, batch approvals…). Manage the packaging library and sample room space. And approved production sample.
- Quality and Compliance: Update the Adverse reactions database. Quality incidents database update. Create a finished product spec for each of NPD product, as well as ongoing products for finished goods inspection. This document recaps the technical spec (final product appearance, quality, colour, formulation, packaging, material, labels and packing information to be verified before shipment), PIF documents, supplier quote, financial analysis, and Purchase Order.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Place the first Purchase Order for all the NDP products and pass accurate order information to Supply Chain team for ongoing purchase. Project management of all raw material purchasing from PO placement to delivery.
Requirements:
- 5+ years Experience in similar role from fragrance company is essential.
- Experience in company like L'Oréal, Estee Lauder, Unilever, Coty, etc would be a big bonus.
- Bachelor degree in marketing/business development is a must (Master degree is a bonus).
- Highly analytical and sensitive with numbers. Passion for the Beauty industry and good product knowledge.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels effectively.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications, inc Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
- Experience with data entry & multiple documents, ensuring complete detail and accuracy even when working at a speed.
- Strong team player – working together and building excellent relationships internally and externally.
