Sunlight Children’s Care is a therapeutic residential childcare provider, offering a variety of residential placements to young people between the ages of 8-18 who may display emotional and challenging behaviours (EBD). The young people placed within our services have often experienced significant adversity and trauma in their young lives and may no longer be able to reside within their familial or foster home.

Salary

For Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker: £38,683.63 pa (inclusive of sleeps), rising to £39,592.80 pa upon a successful 6 month probation period. Our salaries are paid above the minimum wage and proven to be competitive with other establishments within the area.

Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker Position

Sunlight Children’s Care are seeking qualified Senior Residential Support Workers to work within our therapeutic Children’s Residential homes, supporting our young people between the ages of 8-18. If you are a passionate individual and feel you can be a good role model for our young people, encourage them to develop meaningful relationships and attachments, whilst contributing to their development to reach their full potential, this role could be of interest. In return, we can provide access to opportunities for development both personally and professionally and progression within the company, as well as training and access to CPD.

The working pattern is based on a 3 week-rolling rota basis, calculated at 56.4 hours per week (sleeps included), equating to 1 day on, 2 days off (08:00am-11:00pm + sleep). Sleep shifts are included in the annual salary and payment of which is guaranteed when on annual leave.

Role of Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support, guidance and care to young people within the residential settings and community.
  • Participate and engage in activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean home environment, including the completion of all domestic duties and providing home cooked meals.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, risk assessments tailored and key works to each young person’s needs.
  • Lone working with the young person and professional bodies may be required.
  • Foster positive relationships with team members and young people through effective communication.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of young people at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, reporting directly to your line manager any information or concern in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with team members and external professionals to support young people’s progress.
  • Maintain accurate records on ClearCare of care activities, incidents and care plans.
  • Promote a supportive and enjoyable environment.
  • Carry out supervisions.
  • Guide and support your team.
  • Adhere strictly to Ofsted standards, Children’s Act, and Children’s Care Standards.

Qualification and Experience

For our Senior Residential Care Practitioner position, you must have a Level 4 Children Young People and Families Practitioner or Level 3 diploma in Children Young People Workforce qualification. We will also consider the right candidate to hold a Level 3 Health and Social Care. In addition, we request you have had experience in managing a team. A full UK driving licence is essential in order for you to drive the young people to their appointments, education, contacts and social events (company vehicles available).
