About the Position:

We are currently looking to fill a full-time Estimator position. Prior experience estimating/bidding full civil construction in both Private and Public works, managing projects and knowledge in site-work, underground utilities and earthen retention is required.

  • Analyze and compile estimate data that impacts the cost of labor, materials, and equipment requirements to ensure a high quality and timely estimate.
  • Ability to receive and evaluate subcontractor quotes for applicable scopes and alignment with bid documents.
  • Detailed bid proposal preparation and presentation based on scope of work provided that includes all pricing, conditions, clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Breakdown projects into functional stages.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Visit job sites and attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Contract Administration.
  • Resource Scheduling.
  • Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project to meet affirmative action requirements and MBE/WBE/DBE requirements.
  • Follow awarded contracts as assigned—may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits.
  • Review and incorporate historical data productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience working out in the field on projects as a supervisor.
  • Maintain relationships with contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and keep each on schedule ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer.

Education/Experience:

5-7+ years in construction/estimating – preferred but not required.
