The Role The City Council are looking to recruit two Catering Supervisors to work in the school meals service (one to work 31.25 hours per week, and the other to work 28.75 hours per week). By joining their friendly team you will be working for an established and trusted public sector employer that values and respects its employees and seeks to nurture and develop the talents and skills of its workforce. With around 65 schools spanning across all areas of the City of Sunderland, including Houghton-Le-Spring and Washington they serve over 10,000 nutritious and delicious meals to children every school day. They take pride in their quality standards and the talents of their workforce. They are looking for experienced chefs / cooks / assistant cooks who are looking for the next step into managing a school kitchen. These are both permanent, term time roles with a guaranteed minimum number of contracted hours and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and opportunities for personal development and progression within the service. It is a hands on role and you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of 2 main course meals as well as sandwiches / jacket potatoes, salads and desserts to pupils and school staff.
