We are recruiting for a Statutory Mental Health Act Team Manager position and are seeking a candidate with vision and motivation aligned with our service. Our unique team operates 24/7, 365 days a year, covering the city.

As a Team Manager, you will adopt a strengths-based approach to partnership working with individuals and operate effectively within the city\’s integrated models of care. You should demonstrate commitment to social work values and aim to create positive outcomes for vulnerable adults, their families, and carers. Flexibility to meet the changing demands of Adult Social Care and Health partners is essential.
Applications are invited from professionally qualified social workers with substantial experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional. Experience working within a busy Statutory Mental Health Team is required. This leadership role necessitates a strong knowledge of legislative frameworks and policies.
Main Duties:
- Managing a team of qualified Approved Mental Health Professionals responsible for Mental Health Act assessments.
- Supervising, developing, and mentoring staff.
- Engaging in multi-agency and partnership work with service users, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Promoting integration with health partners.
- Working with adults detained under Part 3 of the Mental Health Act.
Successful Candidates will have:
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, strengths-based approach to social work and partnerships.
- Experience in a busy statutory mental health environment, with the ability to meet targets and deadlines, and a proactive approach to professional development.
- Experience in supporting and motivating team members with sound supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and relevant policies.
A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience and registration with the SWE are required.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to a DBS check.
