The Social Care Financial Assessment Team are looking to recruit a full time Financial Assessment Caseworker. A new opportunity has become available for a permanent position within the team that we are looking to recruit to. The team are currently based at Sunderland Software Centre, soon to be moving to City Hall.
You will have an agile working pattern which will include a mixture of working from the office, at home and will include home visits to customers' own properties and residential care homes. The successful applicant will manage their own caseload and carry out financial assessments for customers who have been assessed to receive adult social care and support services and advise how much someone would need to contribute towards such services in accordance with Care Act 2014 statutory guidance.
You will offer advice and support to customers in accessing the council's Deferred Payment Scheme to fund their care and support services. You will also carry out a full welfare benefit check on behalf of the customer to ensure they are claiming the correct benefits for their circumstances and to maximise their income. You will also collate, record and maintain statistical information relating to the team activity and performance for a variety of reasons.
You will be part of a busy team and will require excellent communication skills as well as decision making within statutory guidelines.

Flexi time to allow for work-life balance. This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
