The Trustees and Headteacher are looking to appoint a creative, energetic and capable person to the Daycare Leader role and to drive forward a highly committed team within our Ofsted rated “Outstanding” day care nursery.
Essential Criteria
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Leader and/or Senior Childcare Officer.
- Qualified to Level 3/5 in a DfE recognised Childcare qualification.
- Experience or ability to motivate and lead a team of Childcare Officers.
- Strong knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Ready to comply with safeguarding and related checks (childcare disqualification, DBS, medical, online/social media screening, prohibition from teaching, right to work, satisfactory references, suitability to work with children).
Purpose of the Role
- To lead and manage the day‑to‑day operation of the daycare provision, ensuring full compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted standards.
- To provide high‑quality early education and care, ensuring children are safe, nurtured and supported to achieve their full potential.
- To model best practice and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that supports children’s learning development and works in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community.
Selected Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Childcare Officers and provide ongoing training and development.
- Manage the day‑to‑day operation of the nursery, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks and Ofsted expectations.
- Develop and implement programmes that promote children’s development across key EYFS learning areas.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and submit to the relevant authorities.
- Support staff in safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing responsibilities.
- Act as a liaison with parents/carers, responding promptly to concerns.
- Collaborate with the wider community to enhance learning opportunities.
