You will develop the skills needed for a successful career in ICT by working alongside experienced colleagues, at the same time as working towards a Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification which will be delivered by Sunderland College (online programme).

What you will be doing:

  • Resolving calls in accordance with set procedures and guidance.
  • Investigating and assessing service user issues and requests to enable efficient processing and resolution of calls.
  • Escalating calls to other technical resolvers and teams where required.
  • Liaising with other technical staff to identify potential problems at the earliest opportunity.
  • Maintaining network and application user access including the creation, amending and removing of permissions in accordance with corporate authorisation process.
  • Providing support and guidance of the corporate computing environments and technologies.
  • Basic network troubleshooting including checking connectivity of devices and related network settings.
  • Connecting devices to the corporate wired and wireless networks and related troubleshooting.
  • Verifying and updating of all records within the IT Service Management toolset, to ensure accuracy of records.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team.
  • An aptitude towards problem solving, using logical analysis.
  • An understanding of the importance of IT Security.
  • Experience of using IT equipment with a good understanding of the benefits they bring.
  • Ability to deliver high quality tailored services to meet needs and exceed expectations.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to talk in a non-technical way to customers about ICT.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including collaborating and team working.
  • Ability to be creative in working through problems and making decisions.
  • Be 16 or over at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Not in full-time education.
  • A UK citizen or have proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years or more.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship.
