Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Services Manager to support the delivery of Local Environmental Services, which includes the maintenance and management of grounds, sports pitches, parks and open spaces as well as street cleansing. The position will also include participation in the winter maintenance service provision.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering these types of services to a high standard, as well as having the ability to build effective relationships with our partners and communities and work across the City with vision and attention to detail. They will also be able to demonstrate the ability to continually develop and review service delivery plans and the allocation of resources to deliver key objectives with a commitment to service excellence, continuous improvement and value for money, including the development and use of technology in frontline services whilst working within budgetary boundaries.

The post holder will be responsible for the health and safety of employees and others, implementing safe systems of work, and continuously reviewing, identifying and managing associated risks.

The Environmental Services Manager role is demanding and if required working outside of normal working hours. The post holder will be part of a busy and vibrant team dealing with both internal and external customers. You will be required to have excellent interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal and have excellent literacy, numeracy and customer service skills.

Applicants should have relevant qualifications at degree level or equivalent and/or extensive experience of working in environmental services.
