Sunderland City Council seeks an experienced Environmental Services Manager to support the delivery of Local Environmental Services, including maintenance and management of grounds, sports pitches, parks, beaches, open spaces and street cleansing. The role also involves participation in winter maintenance service provision.
Sunderland’s City Plan aims to create a safe, clean and welcoming city. The candidate will have a proven track record in delivering high-standard environmental services, building effective relationships with partners and communities, and working across the city with vision and attention to detail.
They will also demonstrate the ability to continually develop and review service delivery plans, allocate resources to deliver key objectives and deliver value for money while using technology in frontline services within budgetary boundaries. The post holder will be responsible for the health and safety of employees and others, implementing safe systems of work and continuously reviewing, identifying and managing associated risks.
The role is demanding and may require work outside normal hours. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, written and oral, excellent literacy, numeracy and customer service skills, and relevant qualifications at degree level or equivalent or extensive experience in environmental services.
