Sunderland City Council is committed to developing talent through apprenticeships. As an Apprentice Vehicle Fitter, you will receive full support while working towards a recognised qualification. You will gain hands‑on experience within our Fleet Services workshop, learning to service, maintain and repair a range of specialist heavy vehicles.
What you will be doing:
- Learning to inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles and plant equipment under supervision
- Developing practical skills through workplace and classroom training
- Assisting in delivering repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Using tools and workshop equipment safely
- Completing apprenticeship assignments and meeting deadlines
- Working as part of a busy workshop team
- Following health and safety procedures and wearing PPE
What we’re looking for:

Essential requirements:
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or willingness to achieve
- Ability to obtain a UK driving licence during the apprenticeship
- Willingness to work towards an LGV licence
