Sunderland AFC is seeking a photographer for the Content team to capture high‑quality imagery across matches, training, events, commercial shoots, and club functions. The role demands fast‑turnaround images for digital, social media, editorial, commercial and PR purposes, along with editing and optimisation using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Responsibilities
- Capture high‑quality imagery at matches, training sessions, player arrivals, media events, commercial shoots, and club functions.
- Provide fast‑turnaround images for digital, social media, editorial, commercial, and PR purposes, often under tight deadlines.
- Edit, retouch and optimise images using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to maintain a high standard of quality.
- Maintain and organise the club’s photography archive and digital assets efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with video, design, marketing and communications teams on campaigns, content planning and branded activations.
- Support the Men’s First Team, Women’s Team, Academy, commercial activities and fan engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years professional photography experience, preferably in elite sport, live events, editorial or a fast‑paced media environment.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating compelling storytelling, high technical quality, creativity, and the ability to capture emotion and atmosphere.
- Advanced understanding of professional camera systems, lenses, lighting setups and remote shooting equipment.
- Excellent Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom editing and post‑production skills.
- Experience with fast file transfer, live editing and delivering same‑day content.
- Strong grasp of composition, lighting, colour grading and visual branding.
- Knowledge of social‑first content trends and photography performance across digital platforms.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and rigorous file management standards.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, especially during live events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and travel to away fixtures.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Required to obtain an Enhanced DBS through SAFC.
Location and Eligibility
Full‑time, on‑site role primarily based at the Academy of Light and Stadium of Light, with regular matchday work including evenings and weekends. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
