About the Team
Sunderland AFC’s Major Events team delivers safe, high-quality and memorable events at the Stadium of Light and across the club’s wider venues. Working with internal teams, partners, suppliers and statutory bodies, the team ensures every event is planned and delivered to the highest standard.
This role will lead the planning and operational delivery of major events from concept through to completion, coordinating logistics, safety, stakeholders and customer experience.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Major Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of major events that reflect Sunderland AFC’s standards, values and ambition. You will produce event plans, timelines and operational schedules, coordinating logistics including production, security, catering, transport, accreditation, cleaning, staffing and contractors.
On event days, you will act as Event Manager, leading operational teams, overseeing venue readiness and responding to live issues calmly and effectively.
What We Ask For
You will have experience planning and delivering large-scale events in a stadium, venue, sports, entertainment or comparable environment, with strong operational planning, organisational and project management skills. You should be confident managing stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and statutory bodies, with a good understanding of event safety, risk management, licensing requirements and operational compliance. You will remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions during live events and take a flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and event days.
