Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 per annum

We are an ice cream manufacturer based in Tamworth, supplying customers across the UK and abroad. As a family business, we have a strong sense of community and belonging, supported by an experienced senior management team. We are a 24/5 operation with an established warehouse team and are looking for a new Warehouse Manager to take overall responsibility for our warehouse, cold stores and yard operations. We offer the flexibility to set your own working pattern within a largely days-based role, a Paycare health package and free ice cream!

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Warehouse Manager to lead the safe, efficient and accurate management of our warehouses, cold stores and yard. You will ensure raw materials, packaging and finished goods are managed effectively while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, hygiene, traceability and health & safety. You will lead and develop the warehouse team, drive operational KPIs and work closely with Production, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, HR and Senior Management to meet customer and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of all warehouses, cold stores and yard areas.
  • Lead and develop the warehouse team, including recruitment, training, performance, attendance and disciplinary processes.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, GMP, housekeeping and health & safety, ensuring compliance with BRC and customer requirements.
  • Set and deliver operational KPIs, including stock accuracy and space utilisation.
  • Manage labour requirements and support production planning.
  • Maintain accurate stock control, stock rotation, stocktaking and traceability.
  • Take ownership of WMS and FMA systems, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure Production receives the correct raw materials and packaging at the right time.
  • Oversee incoming goods, documentation, loading and delivery requirements.
  • Manage cold store, freezer and chiller operations, including monitoring and escalation of issues.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment is correctly used, maintained and inspected, with racking integrity and daily warehouse checks maintained.
  • Investigate accidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide regular operational updates to the Managing Director.
  • Participate in the company on-call rota and provide flexibility when required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced warehouse professional with strong leadership skills, ideally from a food manufacturing, FMCG or similarly regulated environment. We are looking for someone who is organised, accountable and commercially aware, with the confidence to lead a team while remaining hands-on. You will take ownership, challenge poor standards, solve problems proactively and lead by example.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing a warehouse, stores or logistics operation.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, GMP, BRC, HACCP and health & safety.
  • Experience working with cold stores, freezers and chill environments.
  • Strong knowledge of stock control, stock rotation, stocktaking and traceability.
  • Experience using WMS/inventory management systems.
  • Experience managing KPIs and improving operational performance.
  • Strong people-management, coaching and communication skills.
  • Experience managing attendance, performance and disciplinary processes.
  • Experience with accident investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise in a fast-paced production environment.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.

Forklift & Equipment Experience

You must be competent in the safe operation of relevant warehouse equipment. Current counterbalance and reach forklift licences, along with scissor lift experience, would be highly advantageous.
