Injury Management Advisor

The role

The Injury Management Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring quality decision-making within claims management, promoting consistency and legislative compliance. You will provide clinical and injury management expertise to assess personal injury claims for appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, helping the department meet its claims management objectives.

This role also involves proactive claims management through early identification of rehabilitation needs, applying evidence-based injury management principles, and ensuring cost-effective interventions. You will coach and mentor Claim Advisors to develop their injury management knowledge and skills, maintaining a customer-focused approach by working with clients, team members, and third parties to find solutions and resolve complaints efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

• Review claim files and provide expertise to claims handlers, including interpreting medical reports and advising on injury management and rehabilitation needs.
• Prepare written and verbal advice on treatment and rehabilitation services, including future management recommendations.
• Support ongoing quality decisions and contribute to claims strategy through injury management expertise.
• Operate within the designated Delegation of Authority.
• Engage and negotiate with service providers, claimants, solicitors, and staff.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Degree in Allied Health or related discipline (mandatory).
• At least 2 years of clinical experience.
• Preferably 2 years of Workers Compensation or CTP experience.
• Occupational Rehabilitation experience is desirable.
• Ability to identify developmental needs and recommend training for team members.
