Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established structural steel fabricator, known for exceptional and iconic projects across the UK. They're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and build a career in structural steel.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their QS career to develop within a specialist environment, working alongside experienced commercial and estimating teams on live projects.
What you'll do
- Support the QS team with cost tracking, valuations and reporting across live projects
- Assist with measuring and pricing variations, and preparing applications for payment
- Help prepare subcontractor packages, including procurement, orders and valuations
- Track project costs against budget and flag variancesAssist with the preparation of final accounts
- Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate cost information
- Support the wider commercial team with reporting and administrative duties as required
What we're looking for
- Some experience in a commercial, QS or estimating support role (construction or steel sector preferred, but not essential)
- Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, a QS-related qualification (degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, comfortable liaising with site and supplier contacts
- Confident with Excel and general IT systems
- Organised, proactive, and keen to learn
