Assistant Pre-Construction Manager London + Hybrid Working Up to £45,000 + Package Are you a steelwork detailer ready to take the next step? If you have a strong technical background and fancy doing something a little different, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for. We're looking for an Assistant Pre-Construction Manager to join a leading structural steelwork business, supporting projects from the early stages of enquiry and tender through to successful handover. This role would be ideal for someone currently working as a Tekla Detailer, Senior Detailer, Technical Coordinator or within steelwork design, who understands how steelwork projects come together and is ready to broaden their experience beyond the drawing office. You don't need to have held a pre-construction title before. What matters is your technical knowledge, commercial awareness, attention to detail and willingness to learn. What will you be doing? Working alongside the pre-construction team, you'll help turn enquiries into well-planned, commercially viable projects. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting the preparation and coordination of tenders for structural steelwork projects. Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information to understand project requirements. Liaising with estimating, detailing, design, procurement and project delivery teams. Identifying technical challenges, potential risks and opportunities at an early stage. Assisting with tender submissions, programme information and supporting documentation. Coordinating information between clients, consultants and internal teams. Helping ensure projects are properly assessed and prepared before moving into delivery. Developing your understanding of the commercial and contractual side of structural steelwork. What are we looking for? We're interested in people who understand steelwork from a technical perspective and want to develop their careers in a new direction. You might be: A Tekla Detailer or Senior Detailer looking to move away from producing drawings full-time. A technical office professional with experience in structural steelwork. Someone with a background in steelwork design, coordination or engineering who enjoys the bigger picture. A technically minded individual who wants to develop commercial and project management skills. You'll need a solid understanding of structural steelwork, the ability to interpret technical drawings, good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Experience with Tekla would be a real advantage, but we're particularly interested in your understanding of the industry and your potential to develop. What's in it for you? This is an opportunity to build on the experience you already have and develop a broader skill set within the structural steelwork industry. You'll gain exposure to the early stages of projects, develop commercial awareness, work closely with experienced professionals and build a career pathway into pre-construction management. Most importantly, you won't be starting from scratch. Your existing technical knowledge will be the foundation for your next move. Interested? If you're passionate about structural steelwork but feel ready for something beyond detailing, let's have a conversation, please reach out to our Steelwork specialist Sharon O'Donnell
