Maintenance Manager

Are you an experienced Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader or Maintenance Manager from a heavy industrial environment looking to take ownership of an engineering function?

This is a newly created position within a growing business, created as a direct result of continued expansion.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the maintenance department, ensuring maximum reliability across both fixed processing equipment and a large fleet of heavy mobile plant.

You'll manage a skilled team of welders and fitters, oversee preventative maintenance planning, coordinate engineering projects and play a key role in improving plant reliability across the operation.

The Role

  • Lead the maintenance function across a busy industrial processing operation.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate breakdown response and engineering priorities.
  • Maximise plant reliability and minimise operational downtime.
  • Manage and develop a team of welders and fitters.
  • Allocate workloads and support succession planning within the engineering team.
  • Coordinate engineering contractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Manage procurement of spare parts, engineering services and plant equipment.
  • Raise purchase orders and oversee maintenance budgets.
  • Lead engineering improvement projects, equipment upgrades and new plant installations.
  • Coordinate planned shutdowns and commissioning activities.
  • Produce maintenance reports and monitor engineering KPIs.
  • Work closely with operational departments to improve overall site performance.

About You

  • Previous experience managing maintenance within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance planning and breakdown management.
  • Practical engineering background with experience of heavy plant or industrial equipment.
  • Experience supervising engineering teams.
  • Comfortable managing contractors, suppliers and engineering projects.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Commercially aware with good IT skills.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate engineering teams.

Experience from sectors such as recycling, quarrying, waste management, concrete, mining, heavy engineering, bulk handling, plant hire or similar industrial operations would be highly advantageous.
