Our apprentices are the future of our business. On our 18‑month apprenticeship programme you will learn the skills to become a successful AI Developer with a fantastic range of future career options ahead of you. With the current levels of advancement in technology, there could not be a more exciting time to join us and following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent role, with one of the best rental equipment providers in the industry.
This role will be primarily based within our central support office with the opportunity to work remotely one to two days per week.
You will learn to:
- Understand AI tools and languages, becoming involved in AI Solution Development & Configuration
- Assist in designing, building and configuring AI agents and copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Salesforce AgentForce, OpenAI, and other native platform tools
- Help create prompts, workflows and integrations that support real business tasks
- Carry out testing to ensure solutions function as expected and provide accurate, consistent responses
- Work closely with developers, analysts and business users to understand requirements and translate them into AI solutions
- Write and maintain clear knowledge articles, FAQs, and user guides to support colleagues using AI tools and agents
- Monitor AI agent performance and suggest improvements
- Help troubleshoot issues with the support of experienced colleagues
- Take part in stand‑ups, sprint reviews and project meetings as required
- Contribute to regular reviews of AI use cases, helping to identify new opportunities to automate or enhance processes
- Engage with colleagues from across multiple areas of the organisation, expanding your team working and communication skills
- Manage a varied workday in a fast‑paced operational environment, learning to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
We’ll provide you with a comprehensive company induction, role‑specific training, and apprenticeship support. You will become part of a larger apprentice cohort where you can form lifelong relationships and engage in a wider support network. We’ll support your personal growth and development in line with your Sunbelt Rentals career aspirations. You will have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications, attend product training sessions, learn from experienced professionals and develop your career within a large, national business.
Apprenticeship Training
You will be completing a level 4 AI & Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard. This will be delivered using a combination of:
- Workplace experience to gain practical skills
- Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor & a range of colleagues
- Industry recognised training leading to an apprenticeship qualification. This is delivered remotely with the support of a skills coach to ensure successful completion
- Inclusion in relevant Sunbelt Rentals training sessions to develop your professional skills. This may require some travel to other business locations

- Additional qualifications at A Level (grades A‑C & including an IT‑related subject), BTEC level 3 or a prior Level 3 Apprenticeship in an IT‑related subject area are essential for this role
- A genuine, demonstrable interest and basic awareness of software development, technology and AI concepts would be desirable
