We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Engineering Manager to join the Sunbelt Rentals team. You will lead a team of field‑based Engineers across the UK, organising and allocating daily work schedules and implementing continuous improvement programmes focused on safety, people, quality, productivity and equipment availability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest levels of product quality and availability while maintaining optimum stock levels.
- Prioritise and manage a repair programme, targeting high‑earning / UTE items and ensuring all assets comply with current Health & Safety regulations and service schedules.
- Manage quality improvement initiatives and support the development of a Centres of Excellence model.
- Drive technical skills development and an apprenticeship programme.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Quality Assurance regulations, including completion of statutory training.
- Investigate major asset failures, identify trends and conduct root‑cause analysis with relevant stakeholders.
- Plan field‑service activities for the regional team.
- Respond to breakdowns, appoint engineers by identifying the most cost‑effective solutions while respecting customer SLAs.
- Appoint third‑parties when necessary to cover breakdowns and raise order numbers upon completion.
- Manage the call‑logging control system for breakdowns and service, including the maintenance of the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.
Qualifications & Experience
- Exceptional leadership, team development and people‑management experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and delegation skills, inspiring confidence and empowerment.
- Proven operational management of a large team across multiple sites.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
- Commercial awareness; ability to understand financial data, P&L, cost control and budgeting.
- Ability to source, analyse data and present results/recommendations.
- Experience within the power‑rental sector.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within and beyond the region.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and resolve complex business problems.
