As Technical Manager you will be responsible for the technical leadership, preparation, maintenance and operational delivery of camera equipment across the Film & TV division. This role ensures all camera assets are maintained to the highest technical and quality standards, are commercially ready for hire, and are delivered efficiently in line with customer requirements. The post holder will lead and develop a team of technicians, drive consistency in preparation processes, and act as the senior technical escalation point for all camera-related matters. The role plays a critical part in supporting revenue generation by maximising equipment availability, reducing downtime and maintaining industry-leading technical standards aligned with client expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Expertise
    • Act as the subject matter expert for all camera systems, lenses, monitoring and associated equipment
    • Ensure all equipment is maintained, tested and calibrated to required standards
    • Diagnose and resolve complex technical faults and issues
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Equipment Preparation & Asset Management
    • Oversee preparation, testing and quality control of all camera equipment prior to dispatch
    • Ensure equipment is hire-ready, correctly configured and meets client specifications
    • Monitor utilisation and availability of camera assets to minimise downtime
    • Support stock accuracy, asset tracking and lifecycle management
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, manage and develop Camera Technicians
    • Allocate workload to ensure operational efficiency and service levels are met
    • Set clear expectations, monitor performance and drive accountability
    • Provide coaching, training and technical development

Essential

  • Significant experience in a camera technician or senior technical role within Film & TV or rental
  • Advanced knowledge of digital cinema cameras (e.g. ARRI, RED, Sony)
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Strong technical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good organisational and planning capability
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of asset management principles
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements

Desirable

  • Experience within a rental / hire environment
  • Familiarity with inventory or rental systems
  • Technical certifications or formal qualifications
  • IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
