For our dynamic growing, innovative Brands division in UK within an already established big generic International pharmaceutical company, we are looking for an outgoing experienced Senior Medical Affairs field professional who dares to look outside the clear-cut frames of a common big pharma job and who can operate in an autonomous entrepreneurial way. This job offers you the opportunity to develop in the broadest sense by being engaged in all aspects of the business and manage your own daily work. You will be responsible for the Medical Affairs strategy and Execution of the Medical projects in UK and work closely with the EU/UK Marketing & Sales and Market Access by providing medical content and strategic insights to projects, together with a strong sense of compliance with the pharmaceutical Industry codes. You will be the first MM for the UK in Oncology which means that your first focus will be on developing KOL networks and setting up a RWE program. You report to the Lead Medical Managers Europe. The European Management team is located at different places in Europe and the European offices are in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

This role does not involve direct people management but requires a high level of collaboration and influence across the organization

Major tasks & responsibilities (60% field):

  • Medical Affairs pre-launch and post launch strategy at UK level through scientific exchange in the field of oncology.
  • Mapping of UK KOLs on the disease and KOL insights on the product
  • Develop links with and support UK networks in the therapeutic area
  • Drive the Real-World Evidence and Data (RWE/D) studies for UK
  • In close collaboration with UK Market Access Manager for branded team, ensure product Access in local guidelines
  • Organizing Advisory Boards (content, objectives, speakers, attendees)
  • Local publications and congress posters within strategy of the product
  • Content input, providing medical slide decks, briefing KOLs for congress and symposia presentations, within brand strategy
  • Medical information on requests to HCPs and medical Presentations to HCPs within Brand strategy
  • Handling Investigator-Initiated trials (IIT): Internal approval and contracting
  • Approval of contracts for external (consultancy/speaker) activities with HCPs
  • Medical scientific and strategic input on Marketing projects and materials in line with EU strategy
  • Ensure all Medical and Marketing projects, materials and presentations are compliant to pharmaceutical codes.
  • The role has responsibility for ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with regulatory and legal frameworks including but not limited to ABPI codes, MHRA, EFPIA, GCP regulations as well as SUN Policies and Healthcare compliance procedures.
  • Acts as internal medical reviewer and approver of materials for compliance with the ABPI Code(s) of Practice.

Education Qualifications (Graduate- Post Graduate)

  • Mandatory – (bio) medical (scientific) academic degree
  • Driver’s license
  • Good knowledge of Clinical Research and Regulatory/Ethical requirements
  • Good knowledge of ICH GCP and appropriate regulations

Work experience

  • Field-based role, requires both travel for internal and external meetings.
  • Mandatory – Proven Strategic and operational experience in leading medical pre-launch and launch activities for UK
  • Mandatory – Proven track record of partnering with national KOLs (at least 4 years field-based Medical position) and external decision-makers including Regulatory Authorities in the innovative pharmaceutical industry
  • Mandatory – previous experience in leading Real-World Evidence and Data generation projects (strategy and studies set-up for UK)
  • At least one-year experience in a commercial function within the innovative pharmaceutical industry (desirable)
  • Dermatology/ Oncology network and experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience in clinical research (in CROs, Pharma or academy/hospital experience) (desirable)
  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written).
