Sumner School is looking for a passionate and collaborative leader to join our team as Rapanui (Y0–2) team leader in 2026. This is a fixed-term (variation to contract) position with release time provided to support leadership responsibilities.

This role is an exciting opportunity to step into leadership within a vibrant, supportive and innovative school. You’ll be leading our Rapanui team of dedicated teachers, working in flexible learning spaces, and supporting our youngest tamariki as they begin their learning journey.

We are looking for someone who:

  • enjoys working collaboratively and leading with warmth,
  • has strong curriculum knowledge, particularly in Structured Literacy, Play-Based Learning and Mathematics,
  • is committed to our school Vision of “Connecting with our people, our learning and our place”, and
  • values wellbeing and Character Education as part of a holistic approach to learning.
