The Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team-based Manchester.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their finance career to gain hands‑on experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping, working closely with the Financial Controller and Assistant Management Accountant in a fast‑paced, growing Saa S business.
- Role Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices and staff expenses accurately and in a timely manner
- Raise sales invoices and support credit control, including chasing outstanding payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and company credit cards
- Assist with month-end tasks, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
- Maintain accurate financial records within our accounting software
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and other routine compliance filings
- Respond to internal and external finance queries in a professional and timely way
- Assist with general administrative duties within the finance function
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and projects as required
- What We’re Looking For
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English, grade 5/C or above
- Some previous experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping role is strongly preferred
- Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, an AAT qualification
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Some previous experience with Xero would be beneficial and preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, can‑do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
