Overview
In this Oncology Pharmacist role at Starling Physicians, you will deliver pharmaceutical care for cancer patients in the Infusion Pharmacy, following approved protocols and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. You will supervise sterile compounding, ensure accurate labeling and dosing, and support safety and quality initiatives. Your work will span order verification, drug information, and education of staff, with a focus on optimal regimens and patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Process and review treatment orders for accuracy and appropriateness
- Supervise preparation of all admixtures and ensure correct labeling and dosing
- Utilize pharmacy information systems and EHR to document findings and actions
- Oversee pharmacy technicians to maintain high productivity and accuracy
- Participate in medication safety initiatives and collaborate with leadership
- Educate pharmacy and ancillary staff on chemotherapy regimens and monitoring parameters
- Review patient regimens for effectiveness, dosing, contraindications, and interactions
- Identify and resolve medication-related problems and communicate alternatives to prescribers
- Ensure compliance with USP-797 and USP-800 guidelines
- Develop and participate in operational and clinical projects in the department
Key requirements
- PharmD degree
- CT State Board of Pharmacy license
- Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification
- English communication skills (oral and written)
- 2–4 years Oncology Pharmacy experience, 5+ years preferred
- Experience with pharmacy information systems and office technology
- Must adhere to pharmacy laws and regulations
