Contract: Fixed-term, 12-month maternity cover

About the role: Tanera Mr is seeking a skilled and adaptable Chef to join our hospitality team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract, working on both our island and mainland locations. Imagine starting your day with a delivery of freshly harvested vegetables from the islands kitchen garden. Baskets of kale, herbs, courgettes, tomatoes arrive at the door, still carrying the scent of the soil. Alongside this, freshly caught fish from surrounding waters, or locally sourced venison. Baking sourdough rolls, making preserves, cooking for appreciative guests and crew. We are looking for someone with strong practical cooking skills, confidence in producing consistent food at scale, and a positive, flexible approach to working in a unique and remote environment. Key Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Cooking & Meal Service Prepare, cook, and serve breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to a consistently high standard. Deliver daily food service across both island and mainland locations, adapting to changing numbers and service styles. Take ownership of assigned kitchen tasks, contributing to smooth and calm service. Support menu planning and development alongside the kitchen team.
  • Kitchen Operations Ensure the smooth daily running of kitchen operations across both sites. Maintain all food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures in line with legal requirements and company standards. Follow established systems and workflows to maintain efficiency and strong communication.
  • Stock & Supplies Assist with stock control, ordering, and rotation to support menu delivery and minimise waste. Communicate with suppliers and colleagues to ensure kitchens are consistently well-stocked.
  • Team & Ethos Work positively within a close-knit kitchen team, contributing to a respectful and supportive environment. Uphold Tanera Mrs values, sustainability principles, and approach to food. Support and guide other team members where appropriate, leading by example.
  • Guest Interaction When required, interact with guests in a warm, professional manner that reflects Tanera Mrs hospitality standards.
  • Flexibility & Commitment Be available for overnight stays on Tanera Mr when needed to support continuity. Work weekends and varied shifts in line with operational requirements. Show flexibility in response to the remote, seasonal, and varied nature of the work.

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 D.O.E
