Role Summary
We’re looking for a Macro Rates Sales Vice President for our Global Markets department to join our team. Help build the macro rates sales function by leveraging our strength and play a key role from a derivatives and cash bond (especially EGBs) sales perspective in the U.K. and EMEA. Lead initiatives to create a combined business in both cash securities and derivatives. This role is based in the public side. This role will require the management of existing accounts; revenue responsibility; contribution to the implementation of new regulatory initiatives; and roll-out of new products & services. Providing seamless coverage for clients world-wide by collaborating closely with internal stakeholders such as Macro Rates Sales & Trading, including in the APAC and Americas regions.
The anticipated salary range for this role is £120,000-£180,000, with the final offer determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.
Business Area
Sales & Trading is in a transition and reorganisation phase. Macro Rates Sales group is one of the many new groups that has been created. The group will cover multiple assets with strong relationship with trading teams within S&T Vertical. The Group aims to form a Sales & Trading function with separate teams of derivatives trading, cash bond trading and the sales function of "multi product sales" within both CM LTD and SMBC BI. Close collaboration between each team, as well as building trust with teams in other regions, is required.
Position Description
- Expanding the business by acquiring new clients, and by maintaining and fostering relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Providing information to clients on SMFG products and services, including cash fixed income and derivatives.
- Bringing client information to internal stakeholders (management, traders).
- Excellent planning, organisation and coordination skills carried out accurately and with attention to detail.
- The role will involve not only facing the clients but also a variety of initiatives that will enhance faster client onboarding, better client coverage setup, etc. in collaboration with other regions.
- The desk is investing heavily in our trading systems to upgrade from legacy platforms to a more sophisticated, globally aligned offering.
- Sales will face a variety of clients, meaning that a wide knowledge of both the client base and the products is vital.
- Coordination of Deal Pricing for Traders & Execution: Structuring transactions and preparing indicative pricing for clients in coordination with Trading.
- Executing client trades.
- Working closely with traders and supporting function within the team.
- Facilitating the Credit Applications together with relevant supporting function to submit to the Bank’s Credit Departments.
- Understanding of both SMBC BI’s & CM LTD’s Credit monitoring systems.
- Negotiating Swap Master & Collateral Agreements.
- Communicating with SMBC BI’s & CM LTD’s Legal Groups.
- Understanding KYC & Compliance issues in the U.K., Europe, Japan and the U.S.
- Interacting with the Compliance Groups in SMBC BI & CM LTD.
- Help the Team to enhance the knowledge of every team member in areas such as product capabilities, booking methodology, or understanding of technology architecture.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experiences with proven high-quality ability of covering numbers of clients in multiple regions and assets that will lead to more transactional volumes and better pricing.
