Contechs are recruiting on behalf of their client who is seeking an experienced Logistics/Demand Planner on a Contract basis. The role will be based in Warwick.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demand Planning & Forecasting: Develop and manage demand forecasts for battery cells, working closely with sales, production, and procurement teams. Analyse historical data, market trends, and customer inputs to predict future demand. Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust planning strategies to minimize discrepancies. Collaborate with key stakeholders to incorporate demand changes, production schedules, and customer requirements into planning.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Ensure the efficient flow of battery cells from suppliers to manufacturing plants and distribution centres. Work with suppliers and logistics partners to track material shipments, production schedules, and inventory levels. Monitor and optimize inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence. Manage the replenishment process, ensuring the timely delivery of raw materials and finished products. Coordinate with internal teams to balance production and inventory needs, adjusting supply chain plans based on fluctuations in demand.
  • Logistics Coordination: Work closely with logistics providers to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and finished goods. Ensure that goods are delivered within cost parameters, tracking all shipments, and resolving any logistical issues that arise. Coordinate international and domestic shipments, including customs, freight forwarding, and transportation. Optimize logistics routes to minimize costs and ensure timely delivery. Manage transportation costs, working to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service levels.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external teams regarding demand planning and logistics issues. Work with the sales team to align customer forecasts with production capabilities and availability.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor KPIs related to demand planning, inventory turnover, and logistics efficiency. Prepare regular reports on demand, inventory, and logistical performance, highlighting trends and areas for improvement. Utilize advanced Excel, ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle), or specialized planning software for accurate data analysis and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in logistics, demand forecasting, and supply chain management. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes to optimize planning processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, demand planning, or supply chain management, preferably within the manufacturing or battery industry.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and demand forecasting principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in coordinating both domestic and international logistics operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Knowledge of the battery industry, including production processes, supply chain dynamics, and logistics challenges, is a plus.
