The Cable Process Design Engineer is responsible for designing and managing cable manufacturing processes from inquiry through production. This role coordinates closely with project, production, procurement, and supplier teams to develop cable structures, material specifications, and process designs that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. The engineer also monitors direct manufacturing costs, supports corrective actions for production issues, ensures compliance with internal procedures and ISO standards, and maintains accurate documentation to support stable and efficient cable manufacturing operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and manage cable manufacturing processes in accordance with departmental procedures and project inquiry requirements.
- Develop cable process designs based on inquiry sheets issued by the Cable Design Project Team, including:
- Preparation of cable manufacturing design sheets (materials, diameter, thickness, and weight etc...)
- Determination of cable length design across all manufacturing processes
- Definition of cable material standards for suppliers
- Coordination of raw material ordering in cooperation with the Procurement team
- Coordination of cable termination design and ordering in collaboration with head office in Japan
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Good interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to provide work instructions and technical guidance when required.
- Technical training or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to handle workload effectively during peak or constrained production phases.
- Capability to achieve production targets and required output levels set by production management.
- Familiarity with basic production planning and scheduling tools or charts.
- Working knowledge of computer software used in manufacturing or production environments.
- Proficiency in documentation control and production record management.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply ISO standards in daily operations (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
Preferred
- Practical experience in cable manufacturing or cable production.
- Understanding of cable manufacturing processes and production flow.
- Experience in a functional or technical role related to cable production.
