Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee the company’s financial and closing‑of‑books operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, tax compliance, and providing financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities
- Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Review monthly financial and management reporting.
- Monitor day‑to‑day financial operations such as invoicing, payment, and other transactions.
- Manage local statutory accounting and tax filings (Corporate Income Tax, Consumption Tax).
- Adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff.
- Act as primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Streamline accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and implement system improvements.
- Maintain control environment (monthly balance sheet reconciliations, P&L reviews).
- Develop risk‑minimising strategies.
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with regional/global FP&A, Treasury, and Legal teams on transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and reporting.
- Work with other departments to prepare budgets and carry out related tasks.
- Develop long‑term business plans based on financial reports.
- Provide advice on future business decisions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years experience in a similar role.
- CA/CPA qualified accountant.
- Experience in planning and management reporting.
- Sound technical and practical knowledge of accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- MSDD365 FO experience (preferred).
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA).
- Experience working in a Japanese company (preferred).
