To hold overall responsibility for managing the Customer Distribution Centre in Sunderland., * Provide and maintain a safe working environment for all staff according to statutory regulations and company directives

  • Budgetary responsibility for the Sunderland site including the annual proposal and monthly reporting of financial performance. Authorisation of SERS and the personal expenses of direct reports, ensuring all expenditure is fully justified and controlled within the parameters of the site budget

  • Overall responsibility for the operational performance of the services provided by the Distribution Centre. Duties include the generation of the monthly Manager’s report, reporting statistical operational data and benchmarking performance against other SEWS-E sites

  • Overall responsibility for the management of the Distribution Centre’s direct reports including the management of industrial relations, training, salary reviews, recruitment, disciplinary actions and the distribution of Company communications

  • Maintain positive day-to-day relationships with Business Unit and Manufacturing Plant colleagues

  • Support the company IT department with day-to-day problem solving at the Distribution Centre

  • Responsible for the continuous reassessment of TS16949 ensuring the audit schedule for all departments is adhered to and corrective actions implemented

  • Responsible for the continuous reassessment of ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 ensuring the audit schedule is adhered to and corrective actions implemented

  • To ensure the building is maintained to the standards set out by the lease agreement and routine maintenance is carried out at the required intervals. This would include all plant and manual handling equipment. Ensure there is effective security control established and continuous monitoring / call out facilities are in place

  • The management of projects related to the supply of services from the Distribution Centre. These include requests made directly from the customer as well as those generated internally with the business. Manage research projects that focus on finding opportunities to improve site efficiency and reduce costs

  • Any other comparable duties as requested by the Line Manager

  • Applicants will ideally be educated to a degree level

  • Have a proven background in supervising or managing in a similar operation

  • Specific experience in warehouse processes, HR management, customer care and effective control of expenditure within the automotive business would be a distinct advantage

  • Flexibility to respond in the event of operational issues

  • Travel to UK and overseas may be required

  • Applicants for this position should have an existing right to live and work in the UK
