Registrations of Interest for Production Operator
A new opportunity is coming to Highlands, Scotland! As we prepare for the start of operations at our new manufacturing facility in the Port of Nigg around mid-2026, we are now welcoming Registrations of Interest for future Production Operator roles.
By registering, you will receive priority invitations to our Company Briefing Sessions which will be held constantly from late 2025 and be among the first to learn about career opportunities with us.
No prior experience in the cable industry is required – full training will be provided – making this an excellent opportunity for people from all walks of life, from newcomers to experienced operators. We are committed to creating career pathways and growing together with the local community.
About our project in the Port of Nigg, Highland
Sumitomo Electric is one of the leading global manufacturers of state-of-the-art high-end electricity transmission cables, up to and including 525kV HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cable.
The new factory at Nigg, with investment value announced by the Scottish Government of £350M, will make a significant contribution towards realisation of the UK Net Zero Target by contributing to critical electricity transmission infrastructure to connect and deliver renewable energy, including offshore wind, to UK consumers and beyond. In addition, the factory will create more than 150 highly skilled jobs in the Scottish Highlands, with maximum utilisation of the local supply chain for production of cables and construction of transmission cable systems.
