We are looking for an On‐site Interpreter (Japanese–English) to join our team on a fixed‐term basis for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on project progress and business needs. Based at our manufacturing site in Nigg, Scotland, this role focuses on practical, day‐to‐day communication support rather than specialist or conference‐style interpretation. You will work closely with our Japanese team members, local national staff, and subcontractors, playing a key role in enabling smooth collaboration during a critical project phase. This position is well‐suited to Working Holiday visa holders or candidates seeking a time‐limited international work experience in a hands‐on, site‐based environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide on‐site Japanese–English interpretation for daily site operations (meetings, toolbox talks, informal discussions, coordination with subcontractors, etc.)
  • Support practical communication between Japanese staff and local teams
  • Assist Japanese team members in adapting to the local working environment and communication practices
  • Help ensure clear understanding of instructions, schedules, and safety‐related information
  • Respond flexibly to ad‐hoc communication needs arising during site activities

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong spoken proficiency in Japanese and English
  • Willingness and ability to relocate to the Scotland Highland region
  • Availability to work fully on‐site in our site of the Nigg for the duration of the contract
  • Good interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
  • Comfortable working in an operational, site‐based environment

Preferred

  • Previous interpretation, coordination, or support experience
  • Interest in manufacturing, construction, or engineering environments (no technical expertise required)
