On-site Interpreter (Japanese–English) for a fixed-term 12-month period, with the possibility of extension depending on project progress and business needs. Based at our manufacturing site in Nigg, Scotland, this role focuses on practical, day-to-day communication support rather than specialist or conference-style interpretation. You will work closely with our Japanese manufacturing team members, local national staff, and subcontractors, playing a key role in enabling smooth collaboration during a critical project phase. This position is well-suited to Working Holiday visa holders or candidates seeking a time-limited international work experience in a hands-on, site-based environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide on-site Japanese–English interpretation for daily site operations (meetings, toolbox talks, informal discussions, coordination with subcontractors, etc.)
- Support practical communication between Japanese staff and local members
- Assist Japanese team members in adapting to the local working environment and communication practices
- Help ensure clear understanding of instructions, schedules, and safety-related information
- Respond flexibly to ad-hoc communication needs arising during site activities
Essential Required Qualifications
- Strong spoken proficiency in Japanese and English
- Willingness and ability to relocate to the Scotland Highland region
- Availability to work fully on-site at the Nigg site for the duration of the contract
- Good interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
- Comfortable working in an operational, site-based environment

- Previous interpretation, coordination, or support experience
- Interest in manufacturing or engineering environments (no technical expertise required)
