Job Title:
IT Helpdesk Technician
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the IT Manager, The IT Helpdesk Technician will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff, assisting in maintaining IT systems, and managing helpdesk tickets. The role will involve working closely with the IT Systems Administrator to ensure the smooth running of all IT infrastructure and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Monitor and manage helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution of IT queries.
- Assist the IT Systems Administrator with the maintenance and administration of servers, networks, and other IT systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain company devices including PCs, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Support the onboarding of new employees by setting up user accounts, permissions, and devices.
- Help maintain IT asset records and manage software licenses.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Systems Administrator or relevant vendor support when necessary.
- Contribute to the documentation of IT processes and user guides.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in IT or a related field (preferred but not essential).
- Experience in a helpdesk or first-line IT support role is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
- Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
