Built through acquisition, Sumer brings together high‑quality regional firms under a collaborative and entrepreneurial model. As the Group continues to scale, we are establishing a permanent procurement function to support commercial performance, supplier governance and operational consistency across the business. We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Analyst to support a major transformation programme, consolidating multiple accountancy firms into a centralised Microsoft Azure environment. This role will play a key part in migrating diverse legacy infrastructures (including on‑premises and existing cloud estates) into a unified, secure, and scalable Azure platform. The contractor will work closely with internal IT teams, third‑party vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient transitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the migration of infrastructure, systems, and services into Azure
  • Assess and document existing environments (on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud‑based)
  • Design and implement migration strategies (lift‑and‑shift, replatforming, or modernisation)
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are maintained throughout
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration‑related issues
  • Collaborate with project managers to track progress and manage risks
  • Produce clear technical documentation and handover materials
  • Provide knowledge transfer to internal teams post‑migration
  • Execute migrations of:
    • Servers and virtual machines
    • File services and storage
    • Line‑of‑business applications
  • Support tenant consolidation and identity integration across multiple entities

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including:
    • Azure Migrate and related tooling
    • Azure AD / Entra ID, identity management, and hybrid identity
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure migration or transformation projects
  • Experience migrating from:
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Networking (VPNs, firewalls, routing)
    • Security best practices in cloud environments
    • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 tenant migrations
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
    • Experience within professional services or accountancy firms
    • Familiarity with accountancy platforms such as CCH & IRIS
    • Infrastructure as Code (e.g. ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
    • Endpoint management (Intune)
    • Data migration tools and strategies
