Our team is known for building long‑term relationships with ambitious businesses, entrepreneurs, owner‑managed companies and large corporate organisations across Northern Ireland and beyond. We deliver commercially focused advice that goes beyond compliance, helping our clients make confident business decisions and achieve sustainable growth.

As part of Sumer, you'll enjoy the best of both worlds: the close‑knit, collaborative culture of a local firm, alongside the opportunities, investment and career progression that come with being part of a rapidly expanding national group. If you're looking for a role where you'll work with high‑quality clients, develop your leadership skills and play an active part in a growing and ambitious tax team, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver UK corporation tax advisory projects for owner‑managed businesses, SMEs, groups and larger corporate clients, ensuring advice is technically robust, practical and commercially relevant.
  • Advise on corporate restructures and reorganisations, including holding company structures, group simplification, demergers, hive‑ups and pre‑sale restructuring.
  • Support transaction‑related tax advisory work, including acquisitions, disposals, due diligence, tax structuring, management buy‑outs, succession planning and exit readiness.
  • Provide advice on corporation tax reliefs and incentives, including capital allowances, substantial shareholdings exemption, loss utilisation and group relief planning.
  • Assist clients with international and cross‑border corporation tax matters, such as transfer pricing, permanent establishment risk, withholding taxes and overseas expansion considerations.
  • Work closely with Tax Directors and colleagues across audit, accounts, corporate finance and private client teams to identify advisory opportunities and deliver joined‑up client solutions.
  • Act as a key point of contact for complex UK corporation tax technical queries, preparing clear advice notes, reports and client communications.
  • Lead, coach and develop members of the tax team, helping them build advisory skills, commercial judgement and technical confidence.
  • Contribute to the growth of the tax advisory function through business development, proposal support, client relationship management and wider firm initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially minded and passionate about developing both clients and people. You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong experience of delivering complex Corporate Tax advisory services within an accountancy practice.
  • ACA and/or CTA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Excellent technical knowledge with the ability to provide practical, commercial advice.
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing junior team members.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with a client‑focused approach.
  • A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to a growing and ambitious business.

With a strong pipeline of growth and investment across the business, there are excellent opportunities to broaden your experience and progress your career.
